Training and Equipping Leaders in Utah
Last month, our team was in Salt Lake City to facilitate the kick-off of the Utah Active Transportation Implementation Academy (UATIA) with the Wasatch Front Regional Council (WFRC), Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG), Utah Transit Authority (UTA), and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT).
The UATIA is a nine-week professional development course consisting of in-person and live online classes and is designed to train and equip stakeholders with the knowledge for how to develop “connected communities” through Active Transportation. The inaugural cohort is made up of mayors, elected/appointed officials, and staff members from various cities in the WFRC and MAG regions.
Upon graduating from the UATIA, the cohort will have gained a deeper understanding of how to build safe, comfortable, and connected Active Transportation infrastructure as well as how to develop welcoming, accessible, and encouraging cultures for those who walk, bike, roll, and run. The UATIA is focused on making walking, biking, rolling, and running safer and easier in this region of Utah. We are honored to collaborate with the region and the project partners in this effort.
