WHAT EXACTLY WILL participants BE DOING DURING the Connected Community workshop & Ride?

A portion of the day will be spent in a classroom setting, and then we will spend the remainder of the day moving around Northwest Arkansas on bike, on foot, and by van. We will be touring and experiencing various trail, park, and connectivity projects in the cities of Rogers, Bentonville, and Fayetteville.

WHAT TYPE OF BIKE RIDING WILL participants BE DOING?

Our group will be riding short distances in each city using electric-assist bikes on paved paths. We will make frequent stops, take breaks, and no one will be dropped or left behind. This is a learning experience, not a race. Our van and trailer will never be far behind and will be stocked with water and snacks.

WILL MEALS BE PROVIDED?

All meals will be provided. A light breakfast and coffee will be provided at the workshop in the morning. Lunch will be on the go to maximize learning time, and the day will conclude with a group dinner in a restaurant. Water and snacks will be available in the van and trailer throughout the day.

WHAT SHOULD be WoRn?

We will be on bikes and on foot throughout the day, so participants should wear comfortable, casual clothes and shoes that can be moved in freely. Closed-toed shoes are recommended. Don't worry about fancy or specialized activewear - we will not be wearing Lycra. Please review the weather to dress accordingly.

Will participants need to provide their own bike and helmet?

No, Laneshift will provide each guest with an electric-assist bike and a helmet.

WHAT WILL participants NEED TO BRING WITH them?

In addition to comfortable clothes for the ride, consider bringing a backpack to carry any gear, snacks, water, and notebooks while out in the field. Our van will never be too far away and can carry any heavy items that may be needed while out and about. A rain jacket, sunglasses, and clothing that can be easily layered are encouraged.
