Planning

A compelling vision or a big idea is only the beginning. The key is to move from idea to developing a plan that is aspirational yet achievable.  Our team can help you take your vision or big idea and develop an actionable plan. LaneShift's planning services include:

  • Corridor and or routing studies- Choosing a route/corridor for a bike and pedestrian connection takes a thoughtful and strategic approach. We work closely with clients to first understand their goals and objectives for a new or revised route. We then factor in all modes of traffic, traffic counts, policy environment, and prioritize options that maximize connections to schools, major employers and an array of other factors.
  • Local and regional bicycle and pedestrian master plans-Laneshift develops neighborhood, city, and regional plans that incorporate local and national insights that will improve mobility for bikes and pedestrians.
  • Community and stakeholder input and engagement- Dive deep and gain valuable insights from key stakeholders and partners. Our team will develop a plan to intentionally reach out to traditionally undeserved underrepresented populations and stakeholders to ensure that they have a seat at the table. We utilize various approaches to gathering feedback including face to face interviews, charette format, community workshop as well as web-based solutions.

Equipping

We provide several training and educational opportunities that will equip you and your team with fresh perspectives and learnings that you can put to work immediately. There are three ways we can help:

1. Active Mobility Academy

"Learning is experience. Everything else is information."   -Albert Einstein

If you want to learn more about how to create, connect or grow a trail and bicycle network, join us in the Ozarks for our hands on Active Mobility Academy. Ride the trails, visit with local municipal leaders, residents, business owners and developers. Learn how bike and pedestrian infrastructure has acted as a catalyst for economic development, improved the overall quality of life and strengthened the community of Northwest Arkansas.

2. The Growing Power of the Bicycle- A guided study tour exploring the many benefits that bicycles bring to a community.

A study tour is an opportunity for participants to experience the places and spaces around them in a new and fresh way.  Whether you are an experienced rider or have not been on a bike in years you will gain new insights and perspectives about the value that biking can bring to a community. The tour will include a mix of hands on, experiential learning on a bike and on foot as well as an active mobility focused workshop.  Facilitated, informed discussion is woven throughout the tour. Contact us to schedule a tour.

3. On-site workshop

Let us customize an on-site training with your team that can help you gain a better understanding of bike and pedestrian networks.
